Haiku Mill Wedding // Haiku, Maui, HI
Justin and Amanda’s intimate wedding day has got to be one of my all time favorites ever. There’s something just so utterly special about only having your best friends and closest family members present. It felt soooo much about Justin and Amanda, and celebrating them, as opposed to just throwing a ginormous party where it feels more about the “event” aspect of it than it actually does about the couple or the people. Having only 30 people present really gives you time to cherish the company of one another, and it gets rid of the pressure of throwing a big party for people to enjoy. They were able to spend one on one time with family and friends who had quite literally traveled from alllll over the world to see them and celebrate their marriage. I really don’t think you could ask for anything better, right!?!?
Now let’s talk about Haiku Mill. This place is the place straight up from fairytales. Did you know some dude from the Bachelor is marrying the girl he found on the show there next year?!? (Yeah, that’s the extent of my knowledge of reality TV HAHAHA). This place was a sugar mill back in the day, and the owner bought it and cleaned it out and brought in the coolest antique pieces from Europe to add to the charm of the venue. When you are sitting inside, under the great old brick walls covered in luscious jungle vines and greenery, you feel like you are in a different magical jungle world. Can I just live here!?!?
I LOVED that these two chose to read their vows to each other privately after their first look, instead of having it be public for everyone to hear. They also surprised their guests with a FIRE DANCER. Yup - you read that right!!! That was definitely a first at a wedding for me, but I was grinning ear to ear (and biting my lip a bit out of nervousness) the entire time I was watching!!!
