Hey, I’m Andie! Your desert loving adventurous elopement photographer.

I’ve spent months exploring the beautiful areas surrounding Page Arizona and Big Water Utah.

When hiring a photographer for your special day, I think it’s SO important that they are extremely familiar with the area you are choosing to elope/get married in. Because of the extensive amount of time I have spent exploring this area, I am SO excited to offer up all of that knowledge to my couples.

When you book me for your elopement, wedding, or shoot in this area, I will be an open book to help you plan your trip here! Once you pick a location you are drawn to, I can share with you some other secret spots to consider for your photos that only someone who’s familiar with the area can provide.

Best Elopement Locations

Some of the exact locations of options below are only provided to booked couples in order to properly protect these fragile ecosystems, limit them from becoming overcrowded, and to provide the best experience for my couples since I have spent hours and days upon days finding these unique locations.

Lake Powell Overlook

About a 2 hour off-roading adventure, filled with breathtaking views along the way! You end up at a stunning viewpoint overlooking the lake and several rock formations. Come at sunrise or sunset, but personally I prefer sunset.

Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped bend in the Colorado River located near Page, Arizona. The bend is about 5 miles downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. The area is known for its stunning views and is a popular spot for photography. The overlook is located on the south side of the Colorado River and offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding landscape. It is one of the most popular viewpoints in Arizona for good reason, but very crowded. Best seen at sunset, and prepare for about a 20 minute walk out from the parking lot to the edge. This location also requires a 10 dollar pass to get into the parking lot.

Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness

Other worldly desert landscapes and endless hikes in this area! The Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness is a protected wilderness area located in northern Arizona and southern Utah. It is known for its stunning red rock cliffs and canyons, as well as its diverse plant and animal life. The wilderness is home to a variety of wildlife, including mule deer, bighorn sheep, and a variety of bird species. The area is popular for hiking, rock climbing, and photography, and it offers a number of trails that wind through the stunning landscape. The Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness is also home to a number of unique geological formations, including the Wave, a series of undulating sandstone formations that are popular with hikers and photographers.

Lake Powell Beaches

Lone Rock Beach is a popular spot on Lake Powell, a man-made lake on the Colorado River in northern Arizona and southern Utah. It is known for its large, isolated rock formations and clear, blue water. The beach is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking, and it is also a popular spot for boating and water sports. The area is surrounded by stunning red rock cliffs, making it a beautiful spot to spend a day. In addition to the beach, there are several nearby hiking trails that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

A whole day experience: rent a powerboat and let’s go explore different canyon arms and hidden beaches deep in the lake!

Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. It is known for its narrow, winding passages and colorful, sandstone walls. The canyon consists of two separate sections: Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon. Upper Antelope Canyon is the more popular of the two, and it is known for its beautiful, curved sandstone walls and the way that the light filters through the narrow passageways. Lower Antelope Canyon is known for its narrow, winding passages and its dark, shadowy corners. Both sections of the canyon are popular tourist attractions and are frequently visited by photographers and sightseers.

Slot Canyons

Cross the border up into Utah to the longest slot canyon in the United States! Get there first thing in the morning and spend the day hiking as far back as you’re willing to go. There are several other incredible slot canyons in the greater Page area, but all of them require booking a tour and some do not allow photography sessions.

Lees Ferry

Filled with gorgeous hikes and river access, this area is about an hour outside of town but worth spending an extra day exploring.

About Page AZ

Page is a city located in Coconino County, Arizona, United States, near the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. Page is known for its many outdoor recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, and hiking in the nearby Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, as well as the Antelope Canyon, a slot canyon known for its beautiful and colorful rock formations. Other popular attractions in the area include the Horseshoe Bend, a horseshoe-shaped bend in the Colorado River, and the Lake Powell National Golf Course.

October through March are the cooler months of the year in this area. You can expect anywhere from below freezing - 50 degrees. October will be sprinkled with warmer days in the beginning of the month potentially in the 60s, but after that you can expect a colder front to move in. It starts warming up in the spring in April and May, to average temperatures in the 60s and some days in the low 70s. June through September are the best house boating months if you are looking to explore Lake Powell, with the average water temperature of the lake hitting the 80s by August. July and August the heat really picks up for averages around 100 degrees, so less enjoyable if you are staying on land. If you do stay on land in the area and decide to spend most of your time hiking, you’ll want to get extremely early starts (right at sunrise) to beat the heat.

This area can experience high winds, usually taking place between February and June. April is the windiest month of the year, and you can often see massive clouds of dust and sand covering the sky or hovering on the horizon.

The last weather factor to be aware of is monsoon season July-September, whether you are on the lake or hiking in the desert. The lake can experience “microbursts” which carry large amounts of rain and wind in them, usually creating lightning as well, and can be dangerous if you are extremely exposed on a boat on the lake. When hiking, NEVER go in a slot canyon if there is any forecasted rain that day. Slot canyons make you extremely vulnerable to flash flooding which kills many people every year.

Architect Adrian Zecha said about the resort: “Our goal was to build something that was a contemporary interpretation of Native American architecture. That was the most important aspect of the whole project.” Amangiri offers 34 elegant suites with spectacular views and furnishings. The grounds are full of elaborately decorated pavilions. And the resort offers world-class dining along with a library, spa, and art gallery. Most people spend a lot of time at the swimming pool they carved around a boulder. The idea behind the location is that you don’t have to leave.
