Dead Horse Point State Park Proposal // Moab, UT
This proposal was unlike any other I have been a part of before!
Rewind like 6 months, I get an email from John saying he wanted to propose to his girlfriend on this Utah trip they had planned! After back and forth chatting, we came up with a location and a plan. John would tell her that he booked them a couples shoot, and then during the shoot he would surprise her and get down on one knee.
I arrived that day thinking that she was aware of the shoot plans… turns out, he never told her! HAHA. They had just finished a crazy hike and came straight from the hike to Dead Horse Point to “watch the sunset”. As soon as they arrived, I walked toward them and gave them big hugs and said “nice to meet you guys!” Linda looked very confused/off put by my hug and introduction… and I just thought, hmm maybe she’s nervous or tired?
We start walking down the trail and I am asking them all sorts of questions about their trip, their story, etc. Linda still looks totally befuddled by my presence… I get out my camera and start to give them my whole speech about photos and how I direct them and everything. She looks at John very confused, and it’s ONLY THEN AT THAT POINT that he tells her he hired me for some couples photos. No wonder why she was confused! She was like “who is this stranger hugging me and getting a camera out to shoot us?” Hahahaha we shared some laughs and got started with their “couples session”.
It was a hazy day but as soon as I saw the sun start to turn golden, I gave John the sign to get down on his knee and propose. The SHOCK on Linda’s face was unreal!!!! She stumbled backwards and you could tell it took her by surprise!!! I gave them a lot of space and time to process the excitement, and when they were ready, we took a few more photos and then headed out for the night.
What a fun surprise to be a part of!!!
