Nomad Camper Couples Photoshoot | Hood River Orchard

Some couples sessions are planned around epic landscapes, others are built around a way of life.

When I met up with outdoor creator Ry (of Ry Roams) and her boyfriend Dane in Hood River Oregon, the goal wasn't just to capture beautiful photos. It was to document a season of life they'll never get back.

At the time, the two were living full-time in their truck campers on a peaceful orchard. It felt like something pulled from a road-trip daydream. Between their campers sat a cozy setup complete with camp chairs, a rug, string lights, and a small table that served as the heart of their outdoor living room. Add three happy dogs running around and it immediately felt less like a photoshoot and more like stepping into their world.

The afternoon started under a blanket of clouds while we wandered the property: in fields and through rows of pear trees, letting the dogs run around using Dane’s old truck as a cornerstone of the shoot.

As the summer heat settled in, we embraced it with an all-out water hose fight. Within minutes they were soaked, laughing, and I think I captured some of the essence of summer in those moments.

Then, just when we thought the evening couldn't get any better, the clouds began to disappear. The sky transformed into layers of pink and reveald a stunning view of Mount Adams glowing in the distance.

We spent the last few moments being spectators to a gorgeous sunset as the landscape turned cotton-candy colored around us. The night ended exactly the way a perfect summer evening should: wet hair, a glass of whiskey, three tired dogs, and twinkling lights strung between truck campers. A fleeting chapter of life, preserved exactly as it felt.

Not too long after our session together, sweet Maui boy crossed the rainbow bridge. If you look back through these photos, you’ll notice he wandered into most of the frames. Couldn’t help but smile looking back on it.
