Summer Elopement in North Cascades National Park

Weather & Seasons

First, select the best time of year for your intimate ceremony. Summer months, from late June to early September, typically offer the most favorable weather with alpine wildflowers blooming and clear skies prevailing. However, this is also the peak season, so arriving early to secure a spot in popular locations is wise. Planning for variable weather conditions is essential; even in summer, be prepared for sudden rain or cooler temperatures at higher elevations.

Locations

Next, choose the perfect location(s) within the park for your ceremony, portraits, and any activities you want to do. North Cascades National Park features a variety of stunning backdrops, from lush forests to rugged mountain peaks. Locations like Artist Point provide breathtaking 360 views, easily accessible trails, and a variety of different locations (lakes, overlooks, mountains, woods), making it an ideal spot for an elopement. Before finalizing your spots, we’ll ensure that it complies with park regulations and consider obtaining a special use permit if required. This helps to preserve the park's natural beauty while ensuring a seamless experience on your special day.

Logistics

Finally, plan the logistics of your elopement. Consider hiring a local officiant familiar with the area who can guide you through the legalities. Since North Cascades is a remote location, factor in travel arrangements, accommodations, and extra time for hiking if needed. The closest towns to the mountains are Glacier and Maple Falls - I would suggest looking for an airbnb in those areas or booking a lodge closer to the park if you want to cut down on drive time.

Photographer - ME!

Additionally, (and arguably most important!) capturing your day with professional photography can ensure that the memories of your elopement are beautifully preserved. I am a Leave No Trace certified photographer which means we will be respectful of the trails, wildlife, and wildflowers and not step on nondurable surfaces or leave any trash, florals, or items behind. As an experienced photographer I know how to best position and frame my couples so that it looks like they’re more immersed in the wildflowers than they actually are! Tricks of the trade.
